Timber Harvesting
From coming up with a plan based on the landowner's short and long-term goals to marking timber, building roads and completing the harvest, we can manage your timber-sale from start to finish. In everything we do, we put the conservation of your property and the native resources first.
Harvest plans can be developed based on wildlife habitat production, TSI (Timber Stand Improvement), financial viability, forest regeneration or any of these combined. I have heard people say that you cannot manage a timber stand for optimum deer/wildlife habitat and financial benefit at the same time but that statement is simply not true. Let us help you manage your forest to benefit both the wildlife and your family's pocket book!
Tree Marking and MFL Cutting Notices
Whether it be for an upcoming timber harvest, an edge-feathering, clear-cut or hinge-cutting for whitetail, grouse and turkey habitat, TSI, or anything else that might warrant tree marking, we can do it. We use clear and concise paint or ribbon markings, utilizing multiple colors and different markings for various purposes. You will also receive a document explaining what the markings mean in case you need it for future reference. We work hand-in-hand with the Wisconsin DNR for MFL timber marking and cutting notices as well as other projects.
Tree Planting
We can plant any species of trees that you desire, be it for aesthetics, wind-blocking, wildlife habitat or forest management.
TSI
TSI stands for "Timber Stand Improvement" and is a crucial component to achieving your forest goals. If you are managing your timber stand for financial benefit, spending some money on TSI now will no doubt make you much more money down the road.
By removing the correct "less desirable" or "poorly formed" trees in your woods, you allow the healthier, desirable trees access to more space and sunlight to grow. You also help establish the next generation of trees by removing some of the canopy. It helps you manage for certain tree species where you need them most and can also create constant browse and bedding in the form of seedlings, saplings and tree tops.
Forest and Farm Roads
A huge part of being a hands-on land steward is being able to access your property. We can take care of the planning, layout, construction, and finishing of your new forest or farm road. We follow the BMPs recommended by the Wisconsin DNR to limit possible soil erosion and water contamination due to exacavation.
Excavation
Pond construction, forest-road construction, creating areas for food plots, and building shooting backstops are just a few things to list that we offer. With many years of excavating experience, if it involves dirt or gravel, we can do it. Another specialty of ours is soil erosion. If you have noticed that your soil is being taken to the neighbors by rainfall or wind, let us help you come up with a solution and see that your soil stays where it's at.
Land Clearing
If you are building a cabin, house, food-plot, field or anything else that might require land clearing, we can help. From tree removal to digging out stumps and moving dirt, we are able to handle the entire process.
